Carving My First Chainsaw Chair
In this video I use my Husqvarna 460 Rancher to make my first Chainsaw Chair from an Oak log
Chainsaws are awesome and versatile tools that are quite handy for just about anybody. I personally never owned my own, just borrowed my dad’s or grandfather’s. So, when Tractor Supply reached out about working together on a chainsaw project with Husqvarna, I couldn’t contain myself. So I got creative and came up with a simple idea to carve a chair from a log. Now this is not the prettiest piece of furniture I have ever made, but I sure had a blast playing with the 460 Rancher.
Carving a chair has been something I have always wanted to do. My grandfather carved some chairs when I was a kid at camp, and we used them for years around the fire pit and I always think about them when I see a trunk laying on the ground. So, I called up my buddy who has 65 acres and has some downed timber. The saw fired up immediately and I got right to work. It blazed right through crosscutting the log and I got to work on cutting the shape
Now, I have never done anything like this before and for me it was an awesome learning experience and a lot of fun. I made some simple joints, flattened the seat, and notched the armrests. The saw performed perfectly and the whole project took me about 4 hours start to finish.
Husqvarna 460 Rancher
The Husqvarna is an impressive saw right out of the box. When it showed up at the shop I was surprised with the size of it. This chainsaw is on the larger size at 60.3 cc and came with a 24″ bar. So, needless to say, this thing has some serious power. For a utility saw like this one, that’s vastly important. My girlfriend recently had some trees fall on her parents’ property, and this saw will be the perfect tool to get it trimmed up and ready for the saw mill. This saw is awesome for everything from cutting firewood to trimming trees. Husqvarna chainsaws are some of the most powerful on the market
