HOW TO MAKE A DIY SLIDING DOOR BOOKSHELF

In this video I get creative and build a reclaimed wood bookshelf. I use products from the local home store to DIY some sliding door hardware with no welder!

FULL TUTORIAL
Breakdown Material/ Mill Stock
STEP 1
Begin by collecting your materials for the job. Pull all of the nails if you’re using reclaimed lumber. Flatten and joint each part to the cut list in the plans.
Glue Up Parts
STEP 2
Once all of your rough cuts are square, glue up your panels. Start with the top, bottom, and two sides along with the back support. Once the panels dry cut and flatten them to final size and dimensions in the plans.
STEP 3
Joinery
Mark and layout all of your joinery for the carcass assembly. Cut using the technique of your choice. I use my Domino XL. After clamping move onto the back panels . 
STEP 4
Back Panels
Re- saw or mill your back panel material of choice while the carcass dries. Cut your rabbets in the carcass and in the panels. Use the interior measurement in the carcass for your back panel measurement. Place panels and attach with glue and brad nails
STEP 5
Door & Shelf Assembly
Rough cut door and shelf materials from the cut list. Assemble using glue and clamps for the shelves. Brad nails for the doors.
STEP 6
Trim and Molding
Cut all of your trim for the top and bottom according to the cut list. I use the carcass for reference to create my moulding. Cut a 1/4″ Chamfer on all moldings. Cut mitres and assemble with glue and 23g brads.
STEP 7
Sliding Hardware
Refer to plans for full walk thru on hardware assembly. Use parts in cut list to create DIY hardware.
STEP 8
Finish
Sand everything to 150 grit with random orbit or hand sander of choice. Stain if you prefer and apply clear coat. Re-attach hardware and you’re done!
